“When it’s about steak, it’s got to be Peter Luger!“
“When you are a steak lover, Peter Luger is the place to be.”
If you happen to stalk every forums and restaurant review sites, those statements are very common coming from satisfied and probably loyal customers of Peter Luger Steakhouse through the years.
And for a restaurant to be successful and still running after 130 years speaks volume of its reputation of excellent food and service.
Although Peter Luger prices may be a bit pricey than the other competitors’ prices, be it because of the quality of food they serve or the reputation of being consistently rated as the best steakhouses for the last 30 or so years, nobody’s complaining. When you get what you paid for and so much more, a little dent on the budget can sometimes be overlooked.
Add to the fact that a lot of steakhouses have been put up by former employees bragging about their previous association with Peter Luger. If that isn’t flattery in its highest form, we do not know what is.
And if the number Hollywood A-listers ranging from Robert de Niro, Elizabeth Taylor, Jackie Gleason, James Cagney, to politicians like Chuck Schumer, David Paterson, and tennis Hall of Famer Peter Sampras, that at one point have dined at this well-known steak haven in the NYC was any indication of how good it is, then we are definitely in for a treat!

Factors Affecting Peter Luger Menu Prices
There are only two branches of Peter Luger Steakhouse. Both are in New York City. So expect the same prices of the menus for both locations. The amount you have to spend depends on your own choice. The following are your options:
For how many – whether you want to just try it out alone, you want to impress a date, or you want to treat your family or friends would affect the cost you have to pay for the Peter Luger prices. But regardless of your choice, just bring cash. Bring plenty if you are being generous as they don’t accept plastics or cards if you may.
Steak or not – what is the point of going to a steak house without ordering what it is famous for? Well, it is forgivable if you have been a regular and just want to try out the rest of their menu.
What day – they have menu specials that change depending on what day you want to dine in, of course, at varying rates.
What time – the time of the day you scheduled to dine in would also be the basis of your expenditures as they serve meals that suit the time of day. Example is lunch which is served until 3:45 PM.
What sides – their side dishes can be as mouth-watering as the main course so be sure to include them in the budget.
Want desserts – since you have been treated to one of the best steaks you have ever tried, why not indulge in their desserts as well? Cakes, pies, mousses, or even fresh fruits are available at Peter Luger Steakhouse.
Why Eat at Peter Luger Steakhouse
Part of the reasons why Peter Luger is so famous is the fact that it has consistently been voted as the best Porterhouse Steakhouse in New York City for 35 consecutive years and several years in all of the United States. Never mind if it’s interior decors need a lot of improvements as it seems to concentrate more on the food rather than the aesthetic part of the fine dining experience. In all honestly, we are beginning to believe that is all part of its overall appeal or charm.
Of course, we can see a score of bad reviews as well but the majority were about bad service, rude or less accommodating servers or waiters that we believe were subjective. But if we were to gauge its overall rating, it is still very ideal after more than a century and a quarter.
Established in 1887 and known to have been serving a distinct selection of USDA prime beef, so the assurance of being served the finest meat and excellent flavors keep the customers coming back for more.
